In the United States, “loaded” can be understood in two distinct ways.

Wealthy

When we describe someone as loaded in this context, we’re indicating that they have considerable wealth. They are brimming with money.

For instance, Alex drives a vehicle that’s over a decade old, yet he’s genuinely loaded. He has the financial capability to pick any vehicle he fancies; he simply opts not to display his affluence.

Drunk/Stoned

In this usage, loaded refers to someone who is significantly drunk. The individual is overwhelmed with alcohol.

For example, Sam was so loaded last evening that he ended up asking a lamp post for its number. Sam was so intoxicated that he found himself engaging with objects as if they were people.
